WTC has the ability to acquire a wide variety of data from around the world, and convert that raw data in to useable information. We primarily use remote sensing from orbital platforms developed by NASA and other agencies, but also have aircraft and ground survey equipment for detailed studies. In addition, we use sources ranging from weather stations, ships, and aircraft to economic reports, and news reports, all integrated in real time.
WTC has experience in a wide variety of remote sensing systems, from passive imagery to active systems such as LIDAR and microwave radar. The image below is a LANDSAT image with Shuttle Laser Altimeter shot returns plotted on it.

By analyzing the timing and shape of the return pulses, shown in the next graphic, the terrain height and roughness can be determined. These are essential for accurate computer models.
